Jail Clearances

In order to gain clearance to speak for a single meeting or to be a secretary for an NA meeting one must:

  1. Show up at the Hospitals and Institutions Subcommittee meeting on the first Saturday of the month at 5 pm for orientation. The meeting that goes over the roster starts at 5:30 pm. It lasts for 60 minutes.
  2. During the meeting we as a group will go over the current roster with four divisions:
    1. Jails
    2. Recovery Houses
    3. Detox Facilities
    4. Hospitals
  3. If members see anything they like in any of the above areas you they are free to volunteer.

Members who want to volunteer in the jails, need to submit to the SFNA Jail Coordinator the following information for the Sheriff’s department to check:

  1. Name as it appears on drivers license/ID
  2. Date of birth
  3. Social Security Number
  4. Race
  5. Gender
  6. Height
  7. Weight
  8. Eye color
  9. Hair color
  10. Phone number

Note: To speak for just a night you need 6-months clean. To be a secretary you need
1-year clean.

Once your personal information has been submitted to the contact at the Hall of Justice,
it is then forwarded to the Sheriff’s department.

One week after the the volunteer’s information has been submitted to the Hall of Justice, volunteers can contact the Sheriff’s department to schedule their fingerprinting, photo shoot and orientation for jail clearance.

In the past there was a “Clearance-Card” that was given to H&I members clearly stating the date that their card expires. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case and you must remember your expiration date or be subjected to the clearance process all over again.

Thanks for doing service, it makes a big difference.
